Hide AdBut Ponte replied with a Liam Kay penalty. Prop Steve Anderson was then held up over the line before Kay added a second penalty to make it 6-5 at half-time.
The second half saw the visitors finally get over the line as a scrum push led to number eight Sam Millard touching down.
Another big drive by Millard from a scrum ended in second rower Brodie Matthews scoring under the posts with Kay goaling.
Crocs hit back with a driving try from a line-out, but any comeback hopes were quickly snuffed out as good hands put debutant Chris O’Gara in at the corner.

Hide AdPonte’s efforts to add a bonus point try were hampered by a worrying looking injury to Bailey Matthews and an uncharacteristic straight red for foul play for hooker Tim Pickersgill.
But powerful substitute Andy Fenton provided new impetus and an interception from his own half by scrum-half Josh Walker gave Ponte prime field position from which Richard Dedicoat sent Millard over.
Pontefract are at home to Pocklington this Saturday with the visitors having Castleford Tigers star Bureta Faraimo in their ranks after he signed on a short term deal and scored a try on his debut last Saturday.
