Recycling boxes to be binned in rubbish plan by council
Householders will no longer have a box for cans and bottles along with their black, green and brown wheelie bins under proposals by the council.
They will instead be required to put recyclable waste in the wheelie bin for paper and cardboard under changes being brought in to make sure waste can be processed at a new treatment plant in South Kirkby.

Hide AdA report to the council’s cabinet meeting on June 17 said the proposals would cut the amount of waste dumped on landfill sites by 93 per cent.
It said bins would continue to be collected fortnightly instead of every week because the system had improved rates of recycling.
Maureen Cummings, cabinet member for environment and communities, said: “We are committed to delivering a high quality and value for money bin collection service for residents.
“These changes will make sure that we can still maintain this fantastic level of service in spite of unprecedented financial pressures from central government.”
