What a busy week with the area's top talent!

It's been a week of looking at an assortment of clubland acts for me.

Last Friday evening took me out to a club in the Normanton area, where South Kirkby-based act Easy Action were appearing on stage.

This particular club has an audience of regulars who are not the easiest to please and this was the first time I have caught this act with their new frontman.

The new member of the act is certainly hot on patter and was soon engaging in friendly banter with the crowd. It was nice to hear some songs I haven't heard for a while and, I must say, I enjoyed my evening in the company of this accomplished local act.

Last Sunday was very pleasant for me, as I managed to catch that lovely clubland act Ali Jordan, who really has progressed in terms of her all-round performance. Ali really is worth a look for those who haven't seen her for a while.

Another promising clubland newcomer is teenage singer Kirsty Bowers. Kirsty is singing solo on certain nights, but she also performs with her brother, Brad Bowers, in a duo called 2 Faced.

Brad tells me he is now restricting his own work on stage as he has recently taken up a new full-time job.

As for his talented sister, Kirsty is showing a great deal of potential for a 17-year-old and vocally she is certainly progressing. Her solo career is looking pretty promising and, although this up-and-coming young lady still has lots to learn on the presentation front, I would imagine that she will continue with her rapid progress.

On the same show I had a look at clubland beauty Carrie Michaels and, like most other people in clubland at the moment, I was suitably impressed with this smashing entertainer.

Thirteen-year-old Hemsworth singer Katrina Goodall has diabetes and wishes to raise money for young diabetics right across the five towns district to enable them to go out on trips together and come to terms with their condition.

A concert will be held in the Castleford area at Townville Club on Friday, July 7 and young Katrina will be singing on the night. The evening will be compered by Jonathan Carroll and also appearing will be clubland singer Claire Matthews and another talented local teenager Rebecca Ashley-Barham, who I wrote about recently when she won the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Junior Starsearch competition.
