Castleford Tigers are holding an “internal investigation” following an incident involving a female fan at Sunday’s First Utility Super League game with Salford Red Devils.
The match at the AJ Bell Stadium, which the Tigers lost 23-16, was marred by a fan who ran on to the field to confront referee James Child while the game was in play.
In a statement, Tigers said: “This action is not condoned by the club and we cannot let the actions of an individual spoil the good work we’ve done as a club in recent months.
“We will hold an internal investigation and contact the individual concerned.
“Castleford Tigers will make no further comment on the incident until the investigation has been concluded.”
