A SOUTH Kirkby cricket starlet has become the first girl to top to the Pontefract League U15s bowling averages.

Aimee Danks, who plays for South Kirkby Cricket Club, picked up the accolade at the league’s end-of-season presentation night at Sharlston Rovers’ Weeland Road ground.

The talented youngster skittled her rivals out by bowling 217 balls and taking 12 wickets for 60 runs over the course of the season, at an average of five runs per wicket.

Her success saw her become the first female to win the award since the league started.

It didn’t stop there, however, with Aimee also shining for the club’s under-17s team, taking nine wickets in total, and for the club’s second string, where she snared five wickets.

Aimee, who also featured for the club’s Sunday League side, received her award from junior league secretary Joy Belk.
