Featherstone coach Ryan Sheridan is keen to retain on-loan centre Vince Mellars.
Mellars, signed from neighbours Wakefield Wildcats, capped an impressive display by scoring a try in Sunday’s 60-6 win at Barrow after making his Rovers debut in the home defeat against Doncaster earlier this month.
Former New Zealand Warriors, Cronulla Sharks, Sydney Roosters and Crusaders player Mellars’ current loan spell runs out after Featherstone’s home game against Workington on Sunday.
Sheridan said: “I’d definitely like to keep Vince but obviously that depends on the situation at Wakefield so we’ll have to see. The club are on with it now.
“The game against Doncaster wasn’t our best performance and it didn’t help Vince that he played in that match after just one training session with us.
“But with a full week with us, he showed against Barrow the quality he’s got. Our right edge was pretty damaging against Barrow and if we can retain him it would be fantastic.
“Will Sharp playing outside Vince was a really good combination at Barrow.”
