Salford City Reds have been fined £10,000, but will not be docked points by an RFL Operational Rules Tribunal after being found guilty of fielding 14 players during their Super League fixture against Castleford Tigers on Saturday, April 27.

Salford were deemed to be in breach of Operational Rules B1.1 (General Competition Rules - Laws of the Game); B2:4 (Match Day Operations Manual (section D15 – Interchange)) and D1.8 (a) (serious or persistent breach of the RFL Operational Rules) when they appeared before the Independent Tribunal in Leeds this evening.

The incident occurred in the 77th minute of the fixture after two Salford players had entered the field from the interchange bench. One player immediately left the field of play but the other, Darrell Griffiin, was found to have interfered with play.

Salford won the match 34-30.
