Speedy winger Jamel Chisholm has joined Featherstone Rovers on a two-year contract from Leeds Rhinos.
The 21-year-old was crowned Rugby League’s fastest man in 2009 and 2010.
Featherstone hope to announce a further signing from Super League in the next fortnight.
A graduate of Leeds Rhinos academy, Chisholm also has experience in rugby union. He scored four tries in 10 appearances for Leeds Carnegie in 2012.
Before his stint at Leeds Carnegie, Chisholm scored 27 tries in just 18 appearances for the Rhinos under 20s team.
He returned to the Rhinos to joined their first team squad this year and made seven appearances for Hunslet Hawks through their duel-registration partnership.
Rovers head coach John Bastian said: “Jamel has already had a good education and apprenticeship through his involvement at Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Carnegie.
“Unfortunately he has had limited opportunities at the Rhinos but I am sure like all our new signings that if he shows endeavour, determination and a hard working attitude then I believe Jamel is capable of achieving great things at Featherstone Rovers if he continues his education in the right manner.
“He will be given the opportunity to flourish at Featherstone but it is important that he grasps this chance presented to him.
“He is athletic, fast and skilful and the coaching team will work hard to ensure that he reaches his full potential. Jamel is aware that a lot of hard work is ahead and we look forward to welcoming Jamel and is family to Featherstone Rovers.”
Chisholm said: “I am looking forward to continuing my rugby league education at Rovers and working under the guidance of John Bastian and his team. I have aspirations to be a successful player and play Super League rugby with Featherstone Rovers and cannot wait to settle in with my new team mates for a challenging pre-season.”
