FEATHERSTONE Rovers are closing in on signing a replacement for long serving forward Stuart Dickens.

Chief executive Craig Poskitt said that the club had identified a replacement for prop Dickens, who has joined the Wakefield coaching staff.

Talks have been ongoing with a player believed to currently be with a Super League side, but there has been a small hold-up until head coach Daryl Powell gets back from holiday.

Poskitt added: “We may well conclude a deal this week, but it hasn’t helped matters that Daryl’s been in Barbados.

“We may have some movements this week, but as yet there is no contract signed.

“Progress has definitely been made from my point of view. Obviously I will be in charge of the deal from a finance point of view. But the player and Daryl would like to sit down and make sure things are right from their perspective, which is how I’d prefer it rather than rush it just for the sake of a week.

“We want it to be right for player, coach and club.”
