Rose calls for immediate response from “wounded” Frickley Athletic ahead of AFC Fylde clash

FRICKLEY Athletic manager Karl Rose is calling for an immediate response from his men following Saturday’s 5-0 thrashing at Witton Albion when they take on AFC Fylde at Westfield Lane tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

Rose was scathing of his side’s performance in Northwich, labelling it “dreadful” and saying his side were “outclassed” from start to finish.

It was the Blues’ biggest defeat of the season so far but Rose is pleased to get a chance to “put things right” when mid-table Fylde visit South Elmsall to take on the Blues for the first time ever in a competitive match.

“I’m glad that another match has come so quickly,” said Rose.

“There were a lot of wounded players in the dressing room after the Witton defeat and they’d like the chance to put things right sooner rather than later.”

Frickley can certainly take plenty from their recent home form which has seen them win six on the bounce at Westfield Lane - in stark contrast to their much-publicised winless run on their travels.

Dave Challinor’s Coasters side will be eager to build on their 2-2 home draw against Worksop Town at the weekend and bag their first league win since mid-October. However, seven of Fylde’s last eight matches have been in cup competitions.

Frickley will hold a minute’s silence for long-term supporter John Uttley, who died last week, before tonight’s match.
