KINSLEY Raiders remain bottom of Yorkshire League Division 2 but will be able to take positives from their 24-7 defeat against Milford Marlins A.
Raiders have been troubled by failing to raise a team for a number of matches this season but had a near-full squad of 23 players available.
They gave Marlins, who saw their side boosted by the addition of first team players following the postponement of their Challenge Cup game, a tough and physical game before falling to defeat.
Tommy Trueman grabbed Kinsley’s only try of the match, which was converted by Rob Allen, as Raiders made a bright start to the game.
The loss leaves Kinsley propping up the rest of the division with just one victory from six matches so far this season.
But they’ll be hoping to build on the outing with a scheduled trip to Manston this weekend.
Upton RLFC moved up to second in Division 1 thanks to a 36-0 victory over basement side Crofton Cougars.
The Quarry Lane side, who’ve won eight of their eleven league matches so far this season, were always on top against a Cougars side who’ve yet to claim a league win this term.
Ryhill Hammers suffered the a rare taste of defeat in Division 3 when they went down 24-10 at home against Shaw Cross A.
Hammers had won all five of their league matches going into the weekend tie but suffered defeat against a Shaw Cross side gunning for promotion this season.
