Castleford Tigers Supporters Club’s meet the directors event proved a big success when held at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
A packed audience was given a big surprise when Ben Roberts was in attendance and announced he had signed a contract extension to the loud cheers and applause of the CTSC members.
Tigers directors Steve Gill, Mark Grattan, Ian Fulton, Dave Vause and Dion Lowe were also at the Black Swan Normanton sponsored event and answered questions from the CTSC members.
The evening started with Mark Grattan asking members about away games, Thursday nights, price, game day preference and free transport for Thursday nights.
Ian Fulton read out a statement from Lateral, the developer, about the 5 Towns Park, stating that everything was progressing well, with ground works to start in the autumn. If everything progresses well the new stadium would be ready for the 2018 season.
Questions and answers were given on subjects covering financial state of the club, club running costs, salary cap, ground improvements, dual registration with Oxford, promotion of match day, ticketing, targeting of potential new fans, hospitality on match day, prices of food and drink, the club shop, merchandise, squad strength, out of contract players, five-year plan, staffing of playing squad, season ticket sales, match day attendances, A team rugby, supporters bar and design and colour of present playing kits.
Thanks go to Steve, Mark, Ian, Dave and Dion for answering all the members questions, thanks to Ben Roberts for the happy surprise and to Michelle Cooper for getting Ben to and from the meeting safely. CTSC made £176 on the night.
The next supporters club event is on Friday, April 8 and will be the great race night at the George V WMC. Tickets are on sale now at the Tigers Den, George V WMC and in the Tiger bar on match days. Adults £4, under 16s £2, including pie and peas supper.
