SHIPLEY GC'S James Ireland and Tom Midgley won a tight battle to lift the Bradford Union fourball stroke play championship trophy at South Bradford GC.
They were one of four pairings to finish on one-over-par 71, but their inward nine of two-under-par 33 proved decisive.
The five-handicappers overcame the setback of a double bogey at the sixth, aided by a run that included four birdies in eight holes from the ninth, each contributing a pair.
Bingley St Ives GC's Terry Brushwood (one) and Dane Bairstow (scratch) placed second on a last six count back from Cleckheaton GC's Chris Green (plus one) and Martin Gaffney (two).
Brushwood and Bairstow dropped only two shots, both by the fourth hole. and played the last 14 in one under.
Green and Gaffney's tally was similar as they, too, were two over after the fourth, their one-under aggregate for the final 14 holes including another bogey plus two birdies, one from each player.
Northcliffe GC's Robert Malloy (one) and Chris Howe (scratch) had to settle for fourth place due to an inferior final three holes, their round including three birdies and four bogeys. They had seven consecutive pars to finish.
