Ackworth faltered in their pursuit of Division One leaders Streethouse as they went down to a surprise 56-run defeat to Hemsworth MW in the Pontefract League.

Another victory looked on the cards for the second-placed team when they did a decent job in the field to have Hemsworth all out for 160.

Although James Gorton hit 39 and Craig Webster 28, Welfare never really got going against an attack led by Kieran McIntyre (4-36) and Dale Longfield (4-36).

But relegation threatened Hemsworth hit back as Jack Heritage took 6-53 and Ackworth were all out for only 104, collapsing after openers Kieren Dinnage (26) and Scott Walker (21) had put on 48 for the first wicket.

Top of the table Streethouse are now 45 points clear after easing to a 10-wicket success at West Bretton.

Jonathan Hughes and Kyle Cleobury took three wickets each as Bretton were all out for 166 with Joseph Gott (41) top scoring.

Streethouse then reached their target in just 16.2 overs as their openers finished the job in double quick time, Brent Law hammering 19 fours and six sixes in 123 not out made off just 61 balls and Hughes supporting with 27 not out.

South Kirkby piled up the runs in a big 179-run margin victory over Hatfield Town.

Going in first, they posted a 278-3 score with good efforts from Dale Woolsey (87 not out, including 12 fours and a six), Stephen Ashworth (72 not out with eight fours and two sixes), Adam Rollin (43) and Lee Tarbuck (30). Hatfield were never at the races in their reply, all out for 99 in just 20.5 overs.

Liam Rollin (3-40), Adam Rollin (3-16), Woolsey (2-25) and Aimee Danks (2-16) did the damage.

Half centuries from openers Mohammed Ayub and Inderjit Singh Hare were not enough to bring victory for Frickley Colliery as they fell by 18 runs against Brodsworth Main.

Chasing Brodsworth’s 211 all out, Frickley were dismissed for 193 with Ayub hitting 57, Singh Hare 51. Andy Wathey also hit 31, but Colliery collapsed from 137-1. Jason Mills had earlier taken 6-71.

Elsewhere in Division One, Old Sharlston beat Askern Welfare by 31 runs after making 207-5 with 61 not out from Ste Roberts and 55 not out by Thilantha Perera.
