Some of the top specialist rugby union sevens teams in the north of England are heading to Hemsworth RUFC’s Moxon Fields ground at Lowfield Road, Hemsworth, this Saturday.
The line-up will include teams from top Yorkshire clubs as Hemsworth host the final leg of the South Yorkshire RFU sevens competition.
Confirmed teams include a side from National League One play-off finalists Doncaster Knights, as well as teams from Skipton, Ilkley, Wath, Doncaster Phoenix and Rotherham Phoenix.
Also competing are invitation sevens specialists Flying Lizards from Lincolnshire and The Stingers, who are drawn from some of Yorkshire’s top clubs.
Local sides Hemsworth RUFC and Upton Rugby League Club will also be taking part.
Hemsworth club secretary Mark Wilson said: “This is a great opportunity for a club at this level to host such a high quality competition with many high class sevens teams from across Northern England competing.
“The club will be open all day, with no admission charges to the ground, so we invite the local community to come and enjoy this exciting rugby event.
“We will also be running a barbeque and mini beer festival with beers from local brewers, Hamelsword and Snaith breweries.”
The clubhouse will be open from 10am with the Australia v England match being shown on TV.
The first sevens game kicks off at 11am.
Matches will be held throughout the day.
The finals and prize giving will take place late afternoon.
