Soldiers sealed top spot in the John Ward Memorial Cricket KO League with a three wicket victory against Upton Rugby at South Kirkby’s Old Mill ground.
C Abel (27), R Johnson, who retired on 30, S Pinheiri (17) and Paul Gillott (10) led Upton to 113-4.
Jordan Harrison (1-6), Dave Rogerson (1-7) and Matthew Browster (1-11) bowled well for Soldiers.
After a good start by Danny Turford, who retired on 31, and Matthew Browster (16), Soldiers lost their way as Fraser Winks snapped up three wickets for two runs.
However, Soldiers recovered through Dave Rogerson (18) before an unbroken stand between Steve Lowery (15) and Gary Hatto (18) saw them to 114-7 in the 16th over.
Paul Dewhurst (1-7) and Guy Marley (1-8) were Upton’s other wicket-takers.
Although the league was dogged by bad weather, Soldiers finished top, being unbeaten in four matches.
Gold Pot were second and Upton Rugby third, followed by South Kirkby Knights, Nags, South Kirkby Social and South Kirkby Reds.
