Hemsworth RUFC made it seven wins on the spin in Yorkshire Four as they came away from Leeds Corinthians with a vital victory.

The 31-14 success kept Hemsworth in second place on the heels of leaders Skipton and nine points clear of Burley – and all but knocked fifth-placed Corinthians out of the promotion running.

A fine all-round team display saw Hemsworth run in five tries with Joe Thompson (two), Brad Thompson, Phil Gamble and Luke Townsend all crossing the line and Ben Brailsford adding three conversions.

They took charge in the opening half and were already well on their way to their eventual try bonus when 19-5 ahead at the break.

Adam Jones stood out for his defensive display while Rob Taylor carried the ball strongly and scrum-half Neil Ackroyd’s game management was impressive.

“Our togetherness and desire to win was exceptional,” said delighted head coach Adam Bradley.

Hemsworth are next in action on March 25 at Burley.
