Allerton Bywater lost by three wickets at Division Two rivals Rossington Main in one of the few matches played on the opening day of the season in the Pontefract and District Cricket League.
Most of Saturday’s programme was ruined by rain but Rossington beat the weather to collect maximum points.
Opener Gareth Portman (38) gave Allerton a solid start before Scott Wood (5-32) and Michael Richardson (2-7) sent them reeling from 71-1 to 112 all out.
Richardson (42) and Sam Roby (20) put on 47 for the first wicket as Rossington knocked off the runs, despite excellent bowling from Allerton’s Usman Bashir (2-18), Jacob Wright (2-34) and Mohammed Tokir (2-20).
In Division Four, Pollington narrowly won a low scoring game at Fenwick.
Fenwick looked handily placed when Jeff Morton (3-8), Josh White (3-9), Brad Hunter (2-6) and Ben Randall (2-15) sent Pollington collapsing to 71 all out.
Opener Simonn Smales (27) and Yasin Seedat (14) were the only Pollington batsmen who reached double figures.
Pollington were rescued by Moosa Patel (4-22), Richard Ellam (2-28) and Seedat (2-2) who skittled Fenwick for 66.
Fairburn 2nds slipped to a one-wicket home defeat against Garforth in Division Five.
Mark Abdy (76) and Ian Raynor (47) guided Fairburn to 187 which Garforth overhauled with the last pair at the wicket after telling contributions from Andrew Appleyard (42) and Craig Field (38).
Ken Atkinson (4-53 from 11 overs) was Fairburn’s most successful bowler.
Hundhill Hall 2nds lost by 42 runs to Rossington Main 2nds in Division Seven East.
Greig Fairhurst (50) and Chris Smith (49no) guided Rossington to 191-8, despite Jack Worthington’s 3-22.
Youngster Ben Westhead’s 58 was in vain for Hundhill who were toppled for 149 by Iain Wormald (3-29), Nestor Paviou (3-45) and Smith (2-26).
