Kinsley Raiders never really got going as they lost out 28-21 in a top of the table Pennine Division Four clash with Wortley Dragons.
The team showed a lot of changes from the week before, but they still should have been good enough on paper to get the two points.
Raiders went 8-0 up thanks to a penalty goal from Lewis Stogden then a class try from Stu Moran from 30 yards out, converted by Stogden.
Wortley hit back with a converted try, but Stu Moran knocked over a drop-goal to make it 9-6 at half-time.
Kinsley lost the lead after the break as Wortley went over for two tries and kicked a penalty to go 20-9 up. The Raiders continued to battle hard, however, and got themselves back into the game thanks to a try from Lewis Stogden.
Dave Stogden then went over for a great try, making the score 21-20 and Kinsley looked to have weathered the storm and come through it well. But Wortley had other ideas, going straight back down the other end to score another converted try. A penalty goal near time made the game safe for them.
MOM was stand-off Stu Moran and top tackler Dave Stogden and Dave Shipley. Kinsley hope to get back on track at home to Siddal on Saturday.
