A LATE rally failed to give Frickley Athletic anything to show for their efforts when they went down to a 2-1 home defeat against Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday.

Promotion-chasing Avenue were leading 2-0 thanks a brace of Rob O’Brien goals before Danny South netted his first Blues goal with three minutes to go to make it a frantic final few minutes.

Peter Rinkcavage’s men threw everything at their visitors late on and James Ashmore saw a free-kick come crashing back off the woodwork as Frickley came agonisingly close to a leveller.

The defeat leaves Frickley without a win in their last four matches.
