LOANEE Mark Gray scored an 88th-minute equaliser to give Frickley Athletic a somewhat fortunate share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Buxton on Tuesday night.
Gray, who arrived on-loan at the Tech5 Stadium from Gainsborough Trinity last week, struck a 15-yard goal late on to deny the Bucks, who’d scored early on through Mark Reed, all three points.
Peter Knox partnered Ollie Ryan in a new-look Blues attack while Peter Rinkcavage, the Frickley manager, also received a boost with the return from injury of Alex Callery.
The Bucks started well and deservedly led after seven minutes through Reed.
The Blues responded well and both Ryan Mallon and Knox went close to levelling the scores before half-time.
They continued their attacking momentum in the second half and Ryan saw an effort chalked off for offside a minute after the restart.
Frickley continued to carve out chances but Buxton looked dangerous on the break.
The hosts didn’t throw in the towel and were rewarded with two minutes to go when Gray scored his first Frickley goal to ensure them a share of the spoils.
