KINSLEY Boys will remember their 50-year history at a club reunion next month.
Boys will hold the 50th anniversary event at their Wakefield Road base, opposite the dog track, on Saturday, July 7 and they’re welcoming all past and present players and associates of the club to attend.
A friendly match played between past and present players will be played on the Kinsley pitch at 5pm before celebrations continue in the clubhouse from 7pm with food and drink available.
The club’s first-ever team is pictured above in 1962.
Formed from the Kinsley Coronation Club, which still stands today, Boys formed an under-18s team to play in the Fitzwilliam U18s League and the club has flourished since.
Since then Boys have won countless league and cup trophies in leagues including the Pontefract League, Wakefield League, Bentley League, Doncaster Senior League, West Riding League and most recently the Central Midland League.
It’s hoped the first team will move to the Sheffield County League from next season but the second team will continue to play in the Doncaster Senior League.
The club’s U19s team plays in the Northern Alliance League, with an U16s team competing in the Charles Rice League.
They kick-off their special 50th anniversary season with next month’s reunion event and the club is hoping for a large turnout to celebrate its history,.
