HEMSWORTH squash star Katie Smith was crowned champion at the Yorkshire Junior Squash Championships in Pontefract.
The England international won the under-19s girl’s section at her home club as the hosts completely dominated the competition.
Taminder Gata-Aura (under-19 boys), Megan Kaye (under-17 girls), Ellan Cooper (under-15 girls) and Ben Sockett (under-11 boys) all became Yorkshire champions.
Tom Bamford (under-17 boys), Emma Campion (under-15 girls), Sam Todd (under-13 boys) and Laura Longfield (under-11 girls) all finished as runners-up to highlight Pontefract’s success.
Several players, including Smith, were also involved in the Lesley Willstrop Doubles competition, played in memory of the mother of current World No. 1 James Willstrop.
The event is a charitable one and this year raised money for Jaiden Worrall.
Smith won the women’s doubles event alongside Andrea Santamaria and Sam Todd, partnered by Saurav Ghosal, the Indian champion, was outstanding in the men’s doubles final, won by the Wileman brothers.
Despite the Super League Play-Offs taking place over the weekend there were still a number of professional rugby league players who attended to play against the women’s team on the doubles finals night.
Hull FC captain Andy Lynch teamed up with Castleford Tigers’ Oliver Holmes took on Welsh number one Deon Saffery and Hemsworth’s Smith.
Wakefield Wildcats head coach Richard Agar was also in attendance on the successful night.
Squash star James Willstrop handed out the trophies at the end of the event and a superb total of £2,500 was raised for Jaiden.
