POOL players from a Hemsworth pub are on cue to raise pockets-full of money for charity.

Sharp-shooters from The Hemsworth Pub, on Highfield Road, are taking part in a 24-hour pool marathon to raise money for the special care baby unit at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.

The event will start at 9pm on Friday and run until 9pm on Saturday and will involve players from the pub’s two pool teams.

It marks the start of a year-long run of fundraising events at the pub, with a darts marathon set to be held and two fun football matches also taking place, as well as an auction night and live music events.

The pub is also aiming to enter the Guinness World Records for how many racks of pool balls can be potted in 24 hours early next year.

All the players taking part in this weekend’s pool event have sponsorship forms and welcome donations.

Anyone wanting to donate this weekend, or help out for future fundraising events with the pub, can contact Tommy at the bar or call 01977 619913 for more information.
