Hemsworth fighter Scott Askham will be out to continue his growing reputation on the Mixed Martial Arts circuit when he travels to Newcastle to face Kevin Thompson next month.

The 24-year-old will take on his Whitehaven-based opponent, ranked eighth in the light heavyweight category, at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena on Saturday, March 9 looking to maintain his unbeaten professional record.

Askham, now based at Ludas Magnus gym in Doncaster, will go into the middleweight contest on the back of a big victory over Denniston Sutherland - a victory that moved him up to 13th in the rankings before the end of 2012.

Thompson is coming down in weight to take the fight after losing against Max ‘Power’ Nunes at his more preferred heavyweight category. He has a record of 13 wins and six losses and will be eager to bounce back and inflict a first pro’ loss on Askham.

The Hemsworth hitter will be out to make that seven losses for Thompson and further boost his progress in the UK rankings with victory in his first fight of 2013.
