Hemsworth mixed martial arts fighter Scott Askham is back in action next month in the joint main event at ACB 87 at Nottingham’s Motorpoint Arena.
The middleweight has bounced back well since he left the UFC promotion with an exciting all British clash with Luke Barnatt at the Sheffield Arena and a brilliant win against Polish favourite Michal Materla.
He is free to fight for whichever promotion he chooses and he returns to the ACB cage to face tough Russian striker Ibragim Chuzhigaev on Saturday, May 19, promising that it will be an explosive contest between two contestants who both aim to go for finishers.
Askham came up with a first round knockout win in his most recent fight against Materla for the KSW promotion when his relentless kicks to the body quickly had his opponent in trouble and a glancing shot to the head sealed one of the most impressive wins in the Hemsworth man’s career.
He intends to return to the European promotion where he has an eye on becoming the KSW champion having signed a three fight non-exclusive deal with them. But first up is a second fight for the ACB, for who he topped the bill at ACB 70 when he defeated British rival Luke Barnatt in front of a partisan crowd in Sheffield.
His opponent, Ibragim Chuzhigaev, is no stranger to fighting on British soil. The Berkut Fight Club middleweight has been victorious in all three of his fights in the UK, stopping each opponent inside the distance and he was victorious over Will Noland as chief support to Askham at ACB 70.
Askham is expecting a bit of a tear up and another exciting fight.
He said: “Two strikers, both never been finished. It’s going to be a war. I go in there for the finish every time.”
