HEMSWORTH RUFC head coach Mark Wilson is calling on a bumper support to help his side through to the last-four of the Yorkshire Trophy this weekend.
Hemsworth welcome Northern Division club Redcar to Moxon Fields on Saturday for their quarter-final clash (kick-off 3pm).
The Mackinlay Park club will arrive in Yorkshire as favourites thanks to their position two levels higher in the rugby union pyramid than Hemsworth.
It means the Yorkshire Division 4 side will need to be at the top of their game to progress, and Wilson is hoping for a big crowd to help cheer his side on.
“It’d be good for the lads to see a good support for them on Saturday,” said Wilson.
“It’s free to get in and there will be some good rugby union on show.”
Hemsworth defeated Adwick-le-Street in the previous round and this weekend’s quarter-final clash has been long-awaited.
Wilson knows his men will be up against it to progress to the semi-finals but hopes their visitors underestimate his side’s abilities.
“I hope they do because they’ll get a shock,” he said.
“Hopefully they’ll look at the league we’re in and underestimate us, that’d suit us.”
Dan Snowden and Dean Joburns will be away for Hemsworth, but Ryan Blinkhorn should be fit to feature and Jason Key will return to the side as captain.
Admission to Saturday’s game is free and refreshments will be available from the clubhouse.
