FRICKLEY Athletic made it three friendly wins out of three with a comprehensive 4-1 success against Stourport Swifts on Saturday.
Blues boss Karl Rose took control of his first match at Westfield Lane and his side produced a polished performance, with in-form striker Gavin Allott in the goals again with a brace.
The Blues should have had a penalty in the first minute when Danny South was brought down but the referee waved away the protests.
The hosts didn’t have to wait long for their opener however when Jimmy Ghaichem burst in from the right and put an angled 20-yard drive into the opposite corner of the net.
Tim Jackson put a long-range effort over the target in Stourport’s first threatening raid after 13 minutes, but most of the action was around the other goalmouth, Allott having a shot turned off target and then seeing his header blocked from the corner kick.
Allott was brought down in the 23rd minute, and made no mistake from the resulting penalty, while 12 minutes later, South and Allott both had efforts diverted off the line.
South had the ball in the net in the 39th minute, only to be ruled off-side, but Frickley’s third goal came two minutes later, Darren Buck giving the Swifts goalkeeper no chance with a strong shot from the edge of the penalty area.
Manager Karl Rose rang the changes on the resumption, which unsettled the Blues rhythm, and Stourport reduced the arrears in the 66th minute, Joe Adams scoring from just inside the penaly area.
There was never a chance of the Swifts getting on terms, and Allott raced on to a through ball from Luke Hinsley and rifled in a low shot after 88 minutes.
