Frickley Athletic return to pre-season training tonight and manager Karl Rose is hoping to sign up a number of players for the forthcoming season.
The Blues boss will welcome back current players and a host of new faces to Westfield Lane as Frickley start their preparations for the 2013-14 Evo-Stik Premier League season.
And Rose is hoping at least ten players commit their futures to the club tonight, while running the rule on other potential new recruits.
“I’m hoping to get some players signed up on Tuesday,” said the Blues boss.
“Hopefully I can get ten to fifteen players to do that. Some will be from last season and there will be some new players too. We’ve still got some lads away on holiday but plenty will be back and plenty will be joining us.”
Teams usually ease back into training after the summer break but there is extra incentive for Blues players to impress Rose tonight thanks to next Tuesday’s friendly clash against Doncaster Rovers at Westfield Lane (kick-off 7.30pm).
“We’ve got Doncaster for our first pre-season game and I’m absolutely delighted,” Rose said. “They’re sending a first team and it’s Paul Dickov’s first game in charge so it will be a good one for both teams.
“We’ll be training on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to prepare for it and we haven’t got another pre-season fixture for a few weeks after that so we can really go and have a good game against them and set some standards.”
“It’s been a good time to be a Frickley player, supporter and manager over these last few months. We got to play at Bury against FC United of Manchester, then at Hillsborough to win a cup and now we’ve got all these friendlies against strong opposition to look forward to.”
