FRICKLEY Athletic have arranged their first friendly matches of the summer.
Blues boss Karl Rose has arranged three friendly matches and hopes to pen-in at least three more.
Frickley will kick-off their preparations for the 2012-13 Evo-Stik Premier League campaign with a short trip to Hemsworth MW on Saturday, July 21 (kick-off 3pm).
A trip to NCEL Premier Division runners-up Bridlington Town follows on Tuesday, July 24 (kick-off 7.30pm).
The club’s first home friendly will be against Evo-Stik League Southern Division 1 side Stourport Swifts on Saturday, July 28 (kick-off 2pm).
“They’ll all be tough games for us and they offer a step-up in division with each game,” he said.
“Hemsworth will have played five or so games by the time we meet them so it’ll be a real blow out for our team.
“Bridlington are a team who are used to winning so that’ll be another good game for us and then Stourport are at the same level as us.
“The results are important for us but it’s all about getting the fitness levels up and making preparations for the season.”
Rose is still hopeful of attracting higher-division opposition for a friendly match but admits the going’s been tough.
He said: “We’re still looking but a lot of the bigger teams had their friendly matches sorted out before I even came to the club so it’s not easy.”
