FRICKLEY Athletic have appointed former Barnsley striker Karl Rose as their new manager.
Rose, 33, has been boss at Evo-Stik Division 1 South side Goole AFC for the last two seasons and replaces Peter Rinkcavage in the Westfield Lane hotseat.
He brings James Dudgeon with him as his assistant and the South Elmsall club are confident they’ve made the right appointment.
A statement from the Blues read: “They are a young management team who are relishing the challenge of managing Frickley Athletic. However, they are under no illusions that the challenge will be an easy one as they look to mould their side.
“But with the full support of not only the board of directors but also the many volunteers and, perhaps more importantly, the club’s supporters, we are sure that they will be a success and will take Frickley Athletic forwards both on and off the pitch.”
Rose had played at Goole for three years before taking charge as manager, following spells in non-league with Scarborough, Leigh RMI, Tamworth and Worksop Town.
He began his career at Oakwell but after a spell with Rochdale had to move into the semi-professional game due to injury.
Dudgeon had been Rose’s assistant at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds since January 2010 and the pair also played together at Barnsley.
