Hemsworth Miners Welfare clinched promotion to the NCE League’s top-flight with Tuesday night’s 2-1 win at Dronfield Town.

Hemsworth now require just two points from their last four games to be certain of going up to the Premier Division as Division One champions.

They recovered from 1-0 down at Dronfield to stretch their lead at the top of the table to 16 points.

Callum Mawbey’s 27th minute goal put Dronfield in front at half-time but Hemsworth stormed back in the second-half.

Billy Law levelled with his 21st goal this season and Danny Critchlow grabbed the winner with 13 minutes remaining.

Hemsworth were always in control as they eased to a 3-0 win in Saturday’s game at Hall Road Rangers.

Jason Yates put them ahead with a 17th minute penalty. Law doubled their lead in the 61st minute and they sealed victory when Samuel Jones was on target five minutes from time.

This Saturday Hemsworth visit bottom team Lincoln Moorlands Railway who have won just three league games this season.
