Hemsworth MW strengthened their promotion bid in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League when they came back from Hallam with all three points.

A 2-1 victory kept Wayne Benn’s men in second place and they kept the heat on leaders AFC Mansfield, who are four points ahead of them.

Bill Law put Wells on the way to their latest victory with a goal after just six minutes.

Micah Bishop equalised for the hosts eight minutes later, but Shane Kelsey netted what turned out to be the winner for Welfare after 58 minutes.

Hemsworth were in action in the second round of the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night when they were at home to Stocksbridge Park Steels.

They gave a good account of themselves against opponents from the higher Evo-Stik League, but lost 3-2 with Sam Jones and Kelsey scoring.

Hemsworth are back in league action this Saturday when they entertain AFC Emley (kick-off 3pm).

They will be looking for revenge after being knocked out of the League Cup 4-3 by Emley in August.
