Hemsworth MW recorded their biggest win of the season when they hammered Yorkshire Amateur 6-1 in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League on Tuesday night.

There were only two points between the sides before kick-off, but Welfare were four up by half-time after goals from Jack Steers, Bill Law, Lee Swift and Jason Yates.

Ammas pulled a goal back in the second half, but Hemsworth had the last word with two more as Shane Kelsey and Law again netted.

Hemsworth had to settle for a point from their trip to Shirebrook Town on Saturday.

It was probably a point gained, however, as they were behind twice before the game ended 2-2.

Matty Ord put Shirebrook ahead in the first half and after Jack Steers levelled on 70 minutes Jake Currie quickly struck again for the hosts.

However, Lee Swift ensured a share of the spoils for Welfare with his side’s second goal seven minutes from time.

This Saturday Hemsworth are away to Bacup Borough in the FA Vase second qualifying round. They are also at home to Dronfield Town in the league next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Hemsworth MW’s Sunday development squad continued their progress with a stunning 4-3 victory at unbeaten table toppers Wrenthorpe in the Wakefield Sunday League Cup.

Nath Hurst bagged a brace with MOM Liam Haller and Branden Scott also on the score sheet. The victory was more convincing with Jay Jay Mathews missing a penalty and Hurst squandering a chance for a hat-trick,

Next Sunday the development side entertain FC International players while the first team travel to Woodman, players meet 9.15am.
