Hemsworth MW moved up to seventh place in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League when they ended the unbeaten start to the season of Teversal on Tuesday night.
Teversal had boasted a 100 per cent league record, but Bill Law’s 50th minute goal proved enough to give Welfare a 1-0 away win.
Wayne Benn’s men remain unbeaten with two wins and two draws so far.
Hemsworth let a lead slip as they had to settle for a point from their third game on Saturday.
In the process they became the first team to take a point off Hull United this season after they had been successful in all three of their opening games since coming into the league.
Nash Connolly gave Welfare hopes of an important win when he fired his side ahead on 25 minutes. But Jamie Richardson hit back 10 minutes later and it remained 1-1 until the final whistle.
Hemsworth are in league action again this Saturday when they travel to play Selby Town, who have nine points from their five matches with three wins, two by big margins against Grimsby Borough and Winterton, but defeats to Dronfield Town and Bottesford Town. Kick-off is 3pm.
