Frickley to host Hull City in pre-season friendly

Frickley Athletic are set to play against Premiership opposition this summer after confirming their first pre-season friendly for 2015-16 will be against a Hull City side on Saturday, July 18.

The game against the Premier League club will kick-off at 3pm at Westfield Lane with the Tigers’ side being a development XI consisting of a mixture of under 21 and under 18 players.

Details on admission prices will be announced nearer the date.

On Sunday, May 10 Frickley Athletic’s Westfield Lane ground will host a charity game between Shoeboxes For Our Heroes XI and the 1st Yorkshire Regiment.

Raising money for Shoeboxes for our Heroes and ABF, The Soldiers Charity, the game is due to kick off at 2pm with the turnstiles open from 12 noon.

A number of special guests are due to play for the “Shoeboxes XI” with names confirmed to date including former Leeds United and Hull City player Peter Swan, ex-Rotherham United player Guy Branston and 2011 X-Factor contestant Jonjo Kerr.

There will be singing by the Yorkshire Warriors Choir as well as the Last Post being played to remember fallen heroes.

In addition there will be plenty of family entertainment with a Tombola, bouncy castle, face painting, a magician, various charity stands and a raffle and Frickley’s Bigfellas clubhouse and snackbar will be open too.

Entry to the game will be £5 for adults and £1 for children.
