Frickley Athletic are delighted to have signed up impressive teenager Brad Dockerty, who broke through from the academy into the first team in the season just finished.
Dockerty has impressed since making the step up to the first team squad in March, being heavily involved in the Blues securing the points needed to avoid relegation.
He has put pen to paper on a new contract that will see him stay at Frickley for at least until the end of the 2015-16 season.
Frickley chairman Gareth Dando said: “I’m delighted that Brad has committed his immediate future to the club as he’s been a breath of fresh air since joining the first team at the back end of last season.
“He’s got the raw talent to play at a much higher level but it’s important now that he continues to work hard and learn to make the most of that talent. He’s also proof that we’re a club that will provide opportunities for local youngsters to succeed in the game.”
First team manager Karl Rose commented: “Brad has impressed me significantly to warrant being awarded an FA contract, which shows the club’s commitment to investing time and effort into young players coming through the Frickley Academy.
“I believe he’s got a bright future with the skills and attributes to go far in the game. However, the hard work starts here both for Brad and for me and the coaching staff to help develop him.
“Hopefully more young talent will continue to progress through the Academy.”
Academy manager Allan Howcroft added: “This is brilliant for Brad who has done fantastically well this last season with the Academy under 19s, so much so that he was promoted to the first team squad where he has done equally as well.
“It shows that there is now a clear route through the club’s Academy to the first team and who knows where it may lead for him next.”
Dockerty joins Reece Thompson as being contracted to the club for the 2015-16 season.
