After taking just one point from their last three games Frickley Athletic know they need to get back on the winning trail when on their travels to play Bedworth United in the Evo-Stik South on Saturday.

Spencer Fearn’s men go into the game after falling down to fourth spot with the race to finish in the play-off places having tightened in the last fortnight following the Blues’ two defeats and a draw and their three point penalty.

The recent eight-match winning run had looked like taking Frickley clear in second place, but they now find themselves in a fight again with Bedworth one of their main rivals, standing one place and one point ahead of the Blues after last weekend’s matches when they drew at Belper Town.

They have a strong home record with 10 wins and only two league defeats so far and will have confidence from having beaten Frickley 4-2 back in September.

Athletic are also in action next Tuesday when they attempt again to play their Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup quarter-final at Swallownest.

The game was postponed last week due to a waterlogged pitch, but Frickley are keen to get through, having appeared in the last six finals of the competition. They were runners-up to Shaw Lane last year after winning the competition for the two previous years.

The recently postponed league fixture at Spalding United has now been rearranged for Tuesday, March 13.
