Frickley Athletic will be looking to ensure their survival in the Evo-Stik Premier League when they are next in action next Tuesday night.
The Blues are without a game this weekend, but will have their eyes on the matches involving relegation rivals Stamford and Marine in particular with the former away to championship-chasing FC United of Manchester and the latter at home to already relegated Belper Town.
Results in both will have a bearing on Frickley’s chances, but they know it is in their own hands and a victory away to Ramsbottom United, who could also go down, could be enough to ensure they stay up. Kick-off in the huge clash next Tuesday is 7.45pm.
Athletic still have one game left after this, but will not want it to all go down to their final match the following Saturday when they are at home to fifth-placed Curzon Ashton.
Lee Stratford’s start at Trafford FC last Saturday, meanwhile, saw him make his 150th appearance for Frickley. In his third spell at the club after first joining in 1998, the 39 year-old has now started 137 times for the club and has made 13 substitute appearances. In this time Stratford, who is part of the coaching staff, has scored three goals.
Gavin Allott’s recent equalising goal at Whitby Town was his 87th for the club and puts him in ninth place in the club’s all-time goalscorers list.
