After facing – and testing – one of the title challengers last weekend Frickley Athletic find themselves up against another of the top sides in the evo-Stik Premier League this Saturday when they travel to play Ashton United.
The Blues will be up against a team in red hot form with Ashton having won five matches on the trot to climb up to third place, just six points behind leaders Skelmersdale United, with six games in hand, after last weekend’s games.
Frickley dropped back to 18th following their unlucky loss to second-placed Ilkeston Town last Saturday and saw the gap closed to six points above the relegation zone.
They do have games in hand over most of the teams below them, which can stand them in good stead, and travel to Ashton knowing they have found some consistent form since the turn of the year.
But they also know they are in for a tough battle against opponents who beat them 3-1 at Westfield Lane in November when the now departed Danny South scored their goal.
