FRICKLEY Athletic manager Peter Rinkcavage has revealed that he has already started the process of signing new players as he prepares for his first pre-season at the club.
Having secured the Blues’ Evo-Stik Premier Division status in a dramatic end to the season, Rinkcavage is now setting his sights on strengthening his squad with a view to enjoying better fortunes next season.
Rinkcavage explained: “We are talking to several new players and I want to make two or three big signings as soon as possible.
“We have identified a list of players and I want to strengthen the team in all departments.”
Rinkcavage is looking forward to a full pre-season and believes that the Blues can attract good new signings. He said: “Recruiting players halfway through the season was very difficult particularly with the cold weather. Clubs were unwilling to let players go, even on loan but now I will be able to build a squad.
“It is nice to know that we will be in the Premier Division next season and I think that will help to attract players.”
The Blues boss aims to make quick signings but expects others to follow during the summer. He said: “Some lads at other clubs will realise that they have limited opportunities for first team football and look to make a move later in pre-season so we will continue to keep an eye on who is available.”
With regards to his current squad, Rinkcavage is planning talks with the players over the coming weeks to secure their services.
When asked if he expects to lose any players, Rinkcavage said: “It is very early days.
“I will be talking to the players over the next few days and weeks.”
Although the season has only just finished, the Frickley manager is already anticipating the next campaign, saying: “There are some big clubs in the division next season and I am really looking forward to the challenge.”
