FRICKLEY Athletic manager Peter Rinkcavage has challenged his players to improve following mixed Evo-Stik Premier Division results over the last week.

A gutsy come-back earned Frickley a 2-2 draw at Northwich Victoria last weekend but the Blues sank to a disappointing 2-0 loss at home to Matlock Town on Tuesday evening.

After the defeat, Rinkcavage said: “We looked short of ideas, which is unlike us, but I think that some of the players are not performing as they should.

“After a good pre-season, maybe we have a bit of a false sense of security. That will need to change.”

He added: “We probably need a couple of new additions to the squad and hopefully we can complete one signing before the weekend.”

The new signing could make his debut during the Bank Holiday break, in which the Blues face two sides who have yet to register league victories this season.

On Saturday the Blues entertain Nantwich Town before a visit to Whitby Town on Monday afternoon.
