FRICKLEY Athletic manager Peter Rinkcavage believes that his team will make a quick recovery following the 6-0 defeat to Chorley on Tuesday.

The Blues’ boss admits his team were well beaten by an experienced team that took advantage of poor defending and put on a display of clinical finishing in front of goal.

Rinkcavage said: “When we missed the early penalty that gave Chorley a lot of confidence but we were guilty of bad defending and that is uncharacteristic of us.

“Our back four were left wanting but Chorley’s finishing was top-drawer.

“We fielded a young team and they had a very experienced front line but that is no excuse.”

He added: “It is important that we learn from the game and I am confident that the lads will put the result behind them and move on.

“Chorley is a very tough place to go. They will be up there challenging this season and I am sure that we won’t be the first team to struggle there.”

Athletic will have little time to dwell on the result ahead of another busy week of league action ahead.

On Saturday, the Blues travel to Northwich Victoria before Matlock Town visit the Tech5 Stadium on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).
