Frickley Athletic are set to host a second Football League side as part of their preparations for next season.

The Blues will now play a Barnsley FC XI at Westfield Lane on Wednesday, July 29 (kick-off 7pm), with admission prices announced nearer the date.

Barnsley are expected to bring a mixture of senior and youth players for one of their final work-outs before the season proper begins in August.

This is the second pre-season game against professional opposition for the Blues, with a Hull City XI visiting Westfield Lane on Saturday, July 18.

This Sunday Frickley’s ground will host a rematch of Frickleyfans v Englandfans at 5pm in aid of the club’s redevelopment fund.

Following on from last year’s game, which Frickleyfans won 4-3, Chad Thomas has again organised the fixture which Englandfans’ organiser Garford Beck has kindly agreed to support.

Chad is looking for fans to play for the Frickleyfans side with a fee of £20 payable by each player. Anyone interested can contact Chad on 07703 558538.

All proceeds from the game will go to the Frickley Athletic Redevelopment Fund, towards the cost of the new changing room complex on which work is due to start this month.

Also on Sunday Shoeboxes for our Heroes are taking on 1st Yorkshire Regiment at 2pm to raise funds for ABF and Shoeboxes for our Heroes.
