The games are coming thick and fast for Frickley Athletic as they follow two league games in four days with two cup ties in the next week.
The first of them sees the Blues host Ramsbottom United in the first round of the FA Trophy on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
They will be looking to continue a Trophy run that started with a 3-1 success against Skelmersdale United this month and are now up against another fellow Evo-Stik League side with Ramsbottom in the West Division having a similar record to Frickley’s in the East Division this season.
Manager Spencer Fearn will aim to put out his strongest team with promise of bigger ties to come in future rounds of the national competition if the Blues can make it through and financial rewards handy for a good run.
He has been able to get some of his first team regulars back in recent games and the goals have flooded back into Frickley’s games, but is still short of a fully fit squad to choose from.
There may be more room for experimentation in next Tuesday’s home game with Farsley Celtic in the second round of the Integro League Cup (kick-off 7.45pm), but the chance of a bigger name scalp is there for the Blues with their opponents riding high in the Evo-Stik Premier, in fifth place with games in hand on all bar one team above them.
Frickley are holding a working day on Sunday when they would welcome help from supporters in tidying the Westfield Lane ground up. They say there is plenty to do with work for everyone of whatever age.
