Frickley Athletic manager John Stancliffe has made his first signing since taking over after bringing forward Sam Cable back to Westfield Lane.
Cable arrives from Selby Town where he has scored 13 goals in 16 matches this season.
His goal scoring exploits in the Toolstation NCE League has made him a much sought after player by a number of Evo-Stik clubs, so it is a great coup for the Blues to have attracted him back to the club.
Cable came through the Frickley Academy system and made several appearances in the first team when the club was in the Evo-Stik Premier League.
Stancliffe is pleased to have Cable to call on now as he looks to turn round the club’s disappointing current run.
He said: “I am delighted to have re-signed Sam back to the football club.
“Sam is a player we have monitored all season and it has been great to see how he has grown as the season has progressed. He adds another dimension to our forward line and I can’t wait to see him back in a Frickley shirt.
“Sam is a down to earth lad and it has been a pleasure speaking and getting to know him over the past few days. He has Frickley at heart and so does his family, I am sure the signing will be very popular with our fans, to have one of their own leading the attack.”
Cable said: “I have loved my time at Selby Town and I leave with a heavy heart, but it’s a pleasure to have put pen to paper and great to be back at the club. After speaking to the gaffer I am excited about the plans for the team and the vision he has for the football club.”
Jacob Hazel, meanwhile, has been presented with the Bowlands Brewery player of the month award for October. The winner is decided by counting up all the votes cast for interactive man of the matches during the month.
