Hemsworth MW came from behind to maintain their unbeaten start to the season in Division One of the Toolstation NCE League.
Up against Selby Town away, Wayne Benn’s men found themselves a goal behind in the league for the first time this season when Craig Muirhead put the hosts ahead on 24 minutes, but they hit back to win 4-2 and move up to fourth in the table.
Dom Blair’s first of the season levelled the game on 25 minutes before Jack Steers netted on the stroke of half-time to send Welfare in ahead at the break.
Selby made a flying start to the second half with Chris Kamara on target within two minutes of the restart.
But again Hemsworth took charge and Blair’s second put them ahead nine minutes later.
Nash Connolly then made sure of the points, bagging his fourth goal of the season 15 minutes from time.
It was Welfare’s third league win and with two draws they remain undefeated in the league so far this season.
Hemsworth take a break from the league this Saturday when they take part in the FA Vase and are at home Cammell Laird 1907, of the Premier Division of the North West Counties League, in a first qualifying round tie at the MDC Stadium that kicks-off at 3pm.
Miners Welfare are back in NCE Division One action, however, next Tuesday as they host league newcomers Westella VIP in a game with a 7.45pm kick-off. Westella have started with two wins and four defeats so far.
