Barnsley have signed Manchester United midfielders Joe Rothwell and Ben Pearson on six-month loan deals.
Pearson, 20, re-joins the club he spent time on loan with last season, making 22 appearances while at Oakwell in 2014-15.
The former Tyke said: “I’m pleased to be back. I had a great time and I want to pick up where I left off but take us one step further.”
Twenty-year-old Rothwell spent time on-loan with League One rivals Blackpool last season, making three appearances in a short spell with the Tangerines.
Rothwell told the club website: “I’m really excited to be here. I’ve heard a lot about the place from Ben Pearson. He couldn’t speak highly enough of his time here and I just can’t wait to get going.
“I had no hesitations about coming here after speaking with Lee Johnson. The club almost made the play-offs last season so hopefully we can go one better this time.”
Both players have signed deals that run until January 3, 2016. The duo could be included in the Tykes’ trip to Chesterfield on the opening weekend of the season, beginning on August 8.
