FIVE-STAR Witton Albion inflicted the heaviest defeat of the season on Frickley Athletic on Saturday.
Daniel Andrews led the Albion charge with a hat-trick as goals came at regular intervals for the hosts in a 5-1 victory.
Karl Rose’s men went into the game on the back of two convincing wins but promotion-chasing Albion never gave them time to settle.
The visitors fell behind in the ninth minute when an unmarked Andrews headed in a pin-point cross for the opener.
The on-song Witton forward struck again in the 21st minute when he was given plenty of time and space to control the ball and give Blues stopper Tom Woodhead no chance.
Witton were in full control and Woodhead did well to smother a 20-yard Josh Hancock drive just before the half-hour mark before the visitors wasted a golden opportunity to pull a goal back through top-scorer Gavin Allott.
Allott was Frickley’s biggest threat and he came close to reducing the deficit again in the 32nd minute when he headed Luke Hinsley’s dangerous cross wide.
Witton still posed a big threat at the other end and a third would have all-but ended Frickley’s hopes of anything from the contest.
They almost got it just before half-time but Anthony Sheehan placed his header wide.
The hosts’ third wasn’t long in coming, however, as they came flying out of the traps in the second half.
Ashley Stott cut in from the right a minute after the restart and rode three challenges before beating Woodhead from 18 yards.
The battling Blues didn’t throw in the towel and Luke Hinsley had a shot blocked minutes later while Allott hit the post from the rebound.
Andrews came close to bagging his third before Oliver James made it 4-0.
Eight minutes later the rout was complete when Andrews completed his treble.
Witton kept their foot on the accelerator and Woodhead did well to turn a 25-yard drive from Adam Clayton over the bar.
