FEATHERSTONE coach Daryl Powell has described rumours linking Rovers star Liam Finn (pictured) with a move to Championship rivals Halifax as “just ridiculous.”
“There is no way Featherstone Rovers would be letting Liam Finn leave for Halifax - that’s pure speculation. I don’t know where it’s come from but it’s certainly not true,” he said.
Liam Finn is a key performer for Featherstone Rovers. He’s been absolutely superb in every aspect of his game.
“I know there’s been things said about our kicking game and all that sort of stuff but I’m delighted with Liam Finn and our playmakers in what they’ve been delivering for the past three years.”
Finn recently set a new world record of 41 consecutive goal kicks and he is poised to set new Featherstone club records for goals and points in a season. He has currently kicked 160 goals and scored 390 points this year, putting him within sight of Jamie Rooney’s club records of 165 goals and 429 points set in 2002.
Powell added: “Liam’s goalkicking has been questioned in the past and he’s responded in the right way. He kicks goals consistently from all over the field and he’s a world record holder for goalkicking as well and it takes a special player to do that.
“Featherstone Rovers would not want to be letting that type of player leave the club.”
